^ i believe is alot of work. alot of dremeling and stuff but it def looks hot. Bestwat all you need is CF on the upper dash and you're set

It is a 350z shift ring, manual of course. I believe you can use the g35 coupe shift ring (manual) as well. Not sure though. Honestly i just placed the 350z shift ring right over the shiftboot.

Well not right over it. You see you have the shifter plate which is (P,R,N,D)...right, then you have the shift boot. The difference in circumference compared to the a/t shifter plate and the 350z shift ring is a few millimeters. So the shift boot (the shift boot attaches to the bottom of the a/t shifter plate) in this sense fills in the gap. So it fits just snuggly, you have to play around with it a bit to get it even. The ring really doesnt move since it is pretty tight, so no worries there.

The other guys in this thread probably dremel the center console to exact size and probably crazy glued the ring and adjusted the shiftboot so that not so much of the material is sticking out and it overlaps the ring. As you can see my shift boot overlaps a little.

I think there is a better way of doing it by making new holes in the shift boot proportionally closer to each other, so that would make the shift boot come tighter and then probably the shift boot wont over lap so much. Bit im happy with the way it is. @ mygisgangsta, yea i know im in the process of that, i have to save up for those expensive cf pedals of yours too:D

Thanks for the info. Lol my CF pedals are mad cheap but they look great especially in person. I wrapped my door pulls with CF vinyl

Bestswat 05-01-2010 05:27 PM

yea same here those are probably the easiest to wrap.

i just got my 05 AT Sedan Shiftknob and want to put it into my 04 AT G35. I uninstalled my 04 knob and is now having trouble installing the 05 AT knob into my shifter. This clear plastic spacer? is shaped odd. What did you guys do with that plastic peice in order to install the 05 AT Knob? Any help is appreciated!

does anyone have a momo shift knob is am 06 auto? im worried on how the shift boot will look/ mount

Just sold my Momo knob and it was a great product. If your local or dealership mechanic has to remove it for service, you might want to do it yourself and put your OEM back on as they probably won't get if back on right.

^ you're lucky cuz your boot covered the bottom chrome part of the knob, making it look smaller. Mine didn't

RicoG35x 07-18-2010 04:46 PM

yeah.. I like that way that worked out!.. it's just a black and chrome nub sticking out of the top of the boot.
Fanyan one here does great work.. you should check out his stuff.. he's got custom boots for most all years of G's.. as well as hand brake boots for coupes.

The neck of the boot at the top seemed to slip right over the end of the knob nice and snug.. so it gives the knob a nice "stub" look to it.. takes about an inch off the total length of the knob.. visually. I'm very happy with it... also noticed that the rubber sleeve that you insert into the collar of the knob, fits very snug now.. that baby isn't moving for anything... nice press fit onto the gear shift shaft and the knob! :D
