Help with steering cover problem

I have a 03 g35 sedan with a cracked steering wheel cover and also the plastic nickel colored piece over the cruise control buttons is cracked... i called the dealer to get a price on the part and they said the steering cover is attached to the airbag so i would have to buy the whole assembly which is not cheap... Anybody have any ideas on what i can do to fix it and not buy a whole new bag?thanks

g7x5 is correct. I took mine to the dealer and got just the steering wheel cover replaced under warranty at Costa Mesa Infiniti. You don't have to buy a whole new steering wheel setup!

Thanks guys but i did talk to my dealer today and they say it comes as one piece... than i called customer service for infiniti and asked them to see if i could special order it and they all said it was one piece... i also called several salvage yards and airbag dealers and they all said it was one piece.. I would be willing to pay someone to pick one up and ship it to me(in black)... or if anyone knows of any specific place in PA to call... It does seem pretty crazy to spend atlease $400 on an aftermarket airbag just to get the cover...

As far as I know to replace the cover, you have to buy the entire airbag unit (at least through the dealer). They won't simply replace the cover, because from what I've been told, they don't want to tamper with the airbag. If it is in fact replaced under warranty, then the whole airbag and cover are replaced as one unit. Like I said though, this is what I was told by multiple dealerships - even though I know for a fact that the cover itself is easy to replace, since that's what you need to do for the Nissan airbag cover swap.

You guys with the steering wheel concerns...check with the dealer to see if they can warranty it or "goodwill" it. As long as you have a regular schedule and a rapport with the service department, they should be able to help you out.
