What is this? (inside the gearbox)

What is this? (inside the gearbox)



Does anyone know exactly what this part is and what it does? (silver piece underneath the screw bed)

I'm assuming it holds some kind of thermal paste...

Maybe it's where you hook this up! (Or it maybe the shift lock release, that's what I'm guessing it is. I'm not 100% sure though, I drive an MT.)

haha, i looked through the AT repair guide and I'm pretty sure you're right...
