How To: DIY Invisicord for Radar Detector
Skill Level: So easy a caveman can do it
Cost: Practically nothing
Time: Under an hour
Here’s a quick guide on how to make your own invisicord. Obviously it’s probably easier to just order the invisicord but I’m a DIY’er.
I basically used the same theory that’s used for the invisicord: 2 needles that stick in the back of the connector for the homelink.
Tools Needed:
Wire (not sure what gauge I used)
Wire Strippers
Shrink tubing/tape
(2) Safety Pins
Soldering Iron
Radar Detector + power cord

Cut the connector off the end of the power cord that powers your detector (make sure you have enough wire to work with and reach where you mount your radar). I ended up cutting my wire too short and
Cut the needle ends off of the two safety pins and solder them to the positive and negative wires of the connector. Use your shrink tubing or black tape or both to make everything look as clean as possible. Make sure you remember which wire is positive and negative on the connector before you wrap everything.

Stick the pointy needle ends into the correct wire slots (the black wire on the homelink connector is the ground and the one next to it is the positive).

Mount your detector and plug in the connector. You’re done.

OP, i had a question, so i have the inisicord in the mail and i just looked at the cable of the rear view mirror. i have 3 wires goin in; grey, black and brown.

The brown wire is in pin 6, and the grey wire is in pin 10. of the connector.
I know the ground will go to ground, but what about the 12 v? do you know?
