Painting Interior door handle?

Does anyone have any experience painting the interior door handle? I did a search and couldn't find anything, so I was wondering if anyone has done this before.

I want to paint the handles black chrome to match a black pearl shift **** I want to get and I was just wondering how hard it is to paint the handle. For anyone that has done this, can the lock button be separated from from the handle so that I can paint between them? Is it hard to sand the current finish off?

Thanks for any input you all would have!

If you do it, use automotive basecoat/clearcoat, not spray paint. Use adhesion promoter and you should be good. Ive taken many car interiors apart, Im sure the G door handles can be separated like any other vehicle can.

I paint all my own stuff, as long as you prep parts and use the proper paint, pretty much anything can come out looking great.

Thanks Flip! Forgive my ignorance in this matter, but I have zero experience painting interiors (or anything for that matter). Would this, with the addition of an adhesive promoter, be sufficient?

Duplicolor is spray paint... Id steer clear of it. Spray paint wont hold up to normal wear and tear you get in a car, whether interior or exterior. A 2-part automotive clearcoat with a catalyst is probably the best thing you can use, obviously thats why they paint cars with it. Spraypainted interiors look good for about a month, until you start rubbing on it or scuffing it up, then it looks like poop.

Ive been spraying for over 10 years, I use either Dupont or PPG. The results with a bc/cc are 574927541x better than something in a can
