I was driving around a week earlier when all of a sudden I hear a loud noise in the back. I pull over to check in the back seat to find my rear ashtray lying on the floor. The metal clip/tab holding the tray & centre console intact snapped into 2 piece. I don't know what Nissan was thinking when they designed this unit because without that dinky clip, the ashtray doesn't mount.

My ashtray is barely even touched! Which leaves me to think brittle fracture from the cold is the culprit.

Anyway, I just went over to Nissan and Infiniti to see how how much this stupid metal clip costs. It turns out you can't replace the clip alone, you have to buy the entire ashtray unit.

"How much is it?"

"$80"

"$80?!?!?!?"

Lol. Anyways, I'm sure I'm not the only one whose encountered this problem. In fact, I know some of you have.

Has any of you found a solution to this without forking over $80? I don't need the tray to work, I just want to mount the ashtray back onto the centre console to fill the giant hole.

I just bought this car and noticed i have the same problem....I can make the ashtray fit but it doesnt work properly if I do...anyone know a inexpensive fix?

 

Lol mine did the same. I could get it to mount with out the clip but once in a while it falls out. I thinkmught crazy glue it back on lol. Either way I never use it.
