Anyone try wheelskins?

I have the willow interior. Has anyone tried this and if so, how bad is the color difference?

Friend has this on his 4Runner. Color match was good in his car. The biggest gripe is where the wheel connects to the center/airbag. The seams in his car were not that great but he is not a patient person. Someone with more skill could make it look better though.

Yea i got quoted 400. That is why i am going to do it myself. I had a wheelskin on my old car and they dont look good where the spokes are on the wheel because it just skips over them. I will let you know how it goes and if it looks good and is not a pain i will do it for you cheap if you want. I will post pics when i finish it.

How do you recover a wheel yourself? Is there a kit for it?

No you buy leather and cut it out and then sew it on to the steering wheel. Just like they did it from the factory. I am redoing my entire interior. I did the rear seats and started the shift boot this weekend. So far everything looks good. I will be posting pics tomorrow in my thread in the forced induction section if you want to take a look.

I think I would try to dye the leather first. You can always cover it up if you **** it up.

I'm assuming his leather is worn out so dying it won't do him any good.

Mine looks like the black is just peeling off the leather. I'm gonna just find something to recolor it.

I have a wheel skins skin and I like it a lot. I'll post pics when I get home, it took me like 2 hours to install though (because I messed up once)

The green almost exactly matches the exterior of my car, and the gray is pretty close to the interior color. It's harder to tell the difference in person than in the pic.
