Official: Interior update thread
Haha - sorry, long morning. Just saw the other pic. Right after I hit post I realized im a stoner and edited....aparently too slow, even though it was only up for like 3s.
Sorry for what I am sure was a massive insult. Didn't mean to call you CandlestickPark

Carbon Fiber
So I finally decided to take a bit of a leap and try some carbon fiber. never having done body work in any capacity, or doing any CF before, I was/am leary.
However, with some helpful advice from a couple members on other forums, I clamped down and tried an A-Pillar after doing some small test pieces to try some different techniques.
I won't get into all the specifics but used Clear Adhesive spray, sprayed on the carbon. Sanded and Painted the A-Pillar black first (the beige will show through if you don't paint it).
Once rough fitted I applied the Resin to just the top surface, once cured, Trimmed the edge roughly and put a second coat on.
---If anyone has done CF work and has any tips/advice, or would like some advice from my limited experience, please comment/PM!!

Comparo with the first coat on

Second coat JUST freshly applied and edges trimmed a little closer

And I made this also, this is the primary reason I wanted to try CF, I would like to wrap this Custom Gauge trim piece I made if I get good/balsy enough

Those look great! Where did you buy the vinyl to wrap your A-pillars? How is it holding up?
Aiiiiight. So the A-Pillar is done. Aside from a few minor things that I have trouble even finding once installed, it turned out great! Thanks again to all those who helped me learn on this.
There is one issue, and it's kind of a big one, but it's not with the finished product.......
.....It's that I'm not sure I like it.
Sure, it looks cool, but it might be too much gloss/flashiness for me for an interior component.
From the passenger view it's pretty dope, it's the transition from the A-Pillar to the Dash that is so drastic, and this is only seen from the driver position (me).....
Anyways, I'll let this one stew for a bit before I touch any other CF work on the interior. Picture bomb time:

After much deliberation I've decided not to do CF in the interior of the car.
CF pillar is up for sale, will make another one so it's a matched set if there's interest.
Time to get some new templates and start over

^for the interior, yup. That or a dry-type wrap (no resin on top). But for me, CF looks it's best with a thick layer of Resin on it and shiny like this, it get's full Depth that way, and has a very sick 3-Dimensional look that is really mesmerizing.
Once you take away that element, you might as well just buy Di-Noc, IMO.

lol @ plastidip.
I keep going back/forth on this. I cancelled the idea because I decided the Console piece I made wouldn't look right in CF, it's too big and would reflect the sun in my eye.
BUT that doesn't mean I cant do the CF a pillars or accent pieces. SO maybe It'll stay, not sure. I'll finish my console piece and make a right-side A-Pillar, and see how it all looks....

I use lots of plastidip. I understand why some people don't, but this would just matte the carbon fiber out, I think it would look awesome. I'm using 3m Di noc on some large interior pieces, and its looking good. If you Di it right carbon fiber looks good. Hell you should do the headliner in carbon fiber.
CF headliner would be nuts. I'd have to see that in person on someone elses car before I ever tried it on my own though, lol. Too much commitment and material if it doesn't work out nice. I like the idea though, who knows.
The Plasti-dip won't work for me because I want a flawless finish. That's simply not possible with plasti-dip because you can't polish it.
