Yeah I have an 06 G35x as well. I'm hoping this one will fit but if it doesn't then I'm going to use it to fix my current one.

 

Please let me know the outcome. I have found people mentioning upgrading a 03-04 cup holder to one from an FX but nothing about the 05-06.

 

Send me a PM in like a week so I don't forget. I'm really hoping to get a good idea of what the spring is like and then maybe find replacement springs elsewhere for others for the future. It shouldn't cost $90+ for a whole assembly just because of a missing spring.

 

Well it doesn't fit in my 2006, but I was able to remove the spring from this one and install it into my original cup holder. Now it works like a charm!

I can see why it broke though...the spring doesn't seem like it's installed in the most secure way. It's just the design. I did sort of a tack weld with some superglue on the tip of the spring so maybe that will help hold it in there.

Anyway, here's a picture of the spring for someone's future reference. Maybe you can find a replacement spring somehow and do it yourself.
