My point is, those who have nothing involved except personal time are getting their panties all in a bunch over a stupid rear seat delete mod. And I termed it as innovative because the word itself means new, which is exactly what this is, even if its new to just the V35 community. Bottom line, I think you guys are really blowing this out of proportion with your 500+ word, annotated, numbered rebuttals. If your whole point was to "educate" then CONGRATS, you did that on your FIRST post. But whatever, carry on, I think it's a cool idea.

My $.02

good deal.

I will hold you to this.

Btw saying you graduated with a bs in aerospace eng. doesn't mean much. I graduated with a Chem E. and actually work in the industry. I also know engineers that are baristas...

You can hold me to it all you want. I know you won't finish the project, I would be surprised if you even have the ***** to start it.

It means I have an actual understanding of composite materials. My masters in physics and current employment in a private engineering design firm means I have the practical experience of 3d modeling, design, cost and construction. My multiple vehicle builds and experience means I have the experience and knowledge to actually know what I am talking about in this situation.

Just last year I made a prepreg carbon fiber airbox for my Harley. It was the 3rd time I have created a carbon fiber part. Tell me, how many times have you actually done what you profess you have so much knowledge about? Let's compare my previous prepreg and hand lay carbon fiber projects to yours.

@ employment in a private engineering design firm rant. You know what....lets compare penises while at it. I bet that would be another 3 page thread on how yours is so much better than everyone else and how much more qualified you are to make that judgement.

I'm beginning to think you are just trolling here:
You have no horse in this race
You've stated you don't want this
You have offered nothing, absolutely nothing constructive.
The only advice you offered was absurd: "get a 350z"

And yes I will hold you to your statement, if not for any other reason but to berate you on this forum publicly....i don't actually expect an individual of your caliber to pay up

Also as an FYI, continuously re-reading/editing , re-reading/editing your posts because that will show him is bit sad....but hey gives me something entertaining to respond to so have at it.

it seems to me the point of this would be a professional looking way to clean up the rear seat area after they have been removed. sure you might lose a little weight, and thats great, but at the end of the day it is an aesthetic mod... and there is nothing wrong with that. there is nothing pointless about it. rear seat deletes are common on other makes of sports/muscle cars. Row2k i think you should consider fabricating it in the manner that the e46 guys do... just out of paneling. it will probably end up being lighter in the long run and look comparably cool. if i build one ill definitely do it the simple way.

Hi Jake,

Your completely right in that the option of the e46 guys is completely acceptable and i have considered it. I simply chose to attempt the carbon fiber. Not because I have "vast carbon fiber experience" , but because I want to try it and because i think i can do it with half way descent results. The reason I say this to you and not mr."Im clearly right and fukallyou up there" is because you suggested it in a civil manner and without the typical attitude that is so common now on this forum. He on the other hand would rather tell you that you are delusional and should get a 350z. How is that a reasonable start to a conversation ?

One thing i didn't mention yet is that I have already made a rear seat delete for my car (only the bottom piece thought) out of fiberglass, foam underneath, and alcantara (left over from my headliner and steering wheels) on top. It was alright and ill post pics once im back in the US, but now i want to try a CF version. Nothing wrong with that...but apparently I should just get a 350z

what i was getting at that i didnt make clear was why dont you try a rear seat delete that is made LIKE that e46 kit, but with carbon fiber, perhaps some carpeted mdf edges and base boards, with the carbon fiber flat sheets making up the vast majority of the area. i think thats a good way to build a light weight, good looking, easily installed setup with minimal effort that still looks professional.

sadly no progress, the priority of this has dropped temporarily due to a number of other things I need to do on the car (new tranny, LSD, splitter re-work). Lots of travel for work lately doesn't help.

I will work on this as soon as I can, but it's getting pushed back by other priorities.
