Driver floor board hump

I just got this 2005 coupe. I noticed a large hump under the carpet. I removed the carpet and saw that there is a large piece of Styrofoam under it. What is the purpose of it?

The car has a bunch of sound deadening stuff under the carpets.
is it possible someone jacked up under the body, pushed the floors up and now that is sticking out?
Check to see if theres a pushed up bit of floor pan underneath that area

Yep, that's what it is. Thanks! I glad I didn't try to rip the foam out

Considering that I bought i from a tow yard, I really thought I might find drugs or money.

I'm glad someone figured it out. How's the car been treating you so far?

It runs really well but still needs some work:
replace cats and y-pipe
replace lower control arms
probably needs spark plugs replaced (has 110k miles)
replace valve cover gasket
replace aftermarket bumper with stock sport bumper

I was able to located a previous owner from a year ago. He said he installed at JWT clutch and lightweight flywheel. So I was excited to hear that.

Thanks. I have been and looking on eBay too.
I worked on the hump today. It took a lot of pounding with my mallet. It's better but not flat. The last owner must have been and idiot. Underneath I can see the marks where they tried to jacked it up.
