Pedal Labor fee

Talked with my dealer today and he told me that an aluminum pedal install would be about $100. for labor!!!??? DOhhhhhh!!!!
Really???! Can't believe it would take an hour to put pedals on? Seriously, I know the accelerator and clutch are supposed to be a little difficult, but an hour???

Re: Pedal Labor fee

depending on where you are thats probably more than an hour. My shop gets $75 an hour i'm pretty sure :] but i saw a breakdown on the pedal install on a site somewhere. it looked pretty complicated. well it had lots of steps to it at least. i'll try and find the link for you.

Re: Pedal Labor fee

it took me 10 min to do the aclerator and the dead pedal but i spent a good 45 min on the damn break pedal the plastic is really stiff. once you do it on a car you relizes how to do it. i probaly could do the hole thing in 20 min now

Re: Pedal Labor fee

mine took about an hour, 5 minutes for the dead pedal, 10 for the gas pedal, 30 minutes to stop the big gash on my thumb from bleeding (damn gas pedal bushing), and 15 minutes for the brake, i used a little bit of soap and a small flat head screw driver and it popped right on!

Re: Pedal Labor fee

Guys, do it yourself, it is very easy and no tools. I did mine for less than 20 mins. The trick is boiled water. Put some on a bowl or something like that take it to the garage. Put your break, clutch pedals and the accelerator pedal's clip in there while you are taking the old pedals off the car. Dead pedal is pretty easy to put in. Next is your clutch start from ther top and just wigle it back and forth should just go right on very easily since it is very soft and ply able by now. Be carefull not to burn your hand when picking the pedals up from the bowl! Do the break next the same way. Last is the accelerator pedal, the clip could be a little trickey, but not hard at all once it is lined up just push it in, it should just click in without too much effort.
If all else fail let me know...I will do it for you for 50 bucks...will be like taking candies from a kid.....LOL

Re: Pedal Labor fee

It took me about 20 minutes for the whole install. I didn't boil or use something slick to help the pads slide on. Save the $75 - 100 bucks and do it yourself.

Re: Pedal Labor fee

I used the boiling water and a flat-head screw-driver technique. Took maybe 30 minutes, including the time to boil the water. Don't pay a shop to do this.

Re: Pedal Labor fee

Guys,
I tried installing my pedals on the 6MT last night...well....it is a frikkin pain in the neck!
It took me an hour to get the freekin thing onto the clutch pedal! I boiled it and used 2 screw drivers and 3 pliers, no luck, i started cursing out every japanese engineer in the world, then i started kicking things from my anger and rage.
So then I took the pliers and started stretching out the darned rubber on the pedals, i stretched it so that it looked like an old skank's pu$$y

Lets put it this way, it took me 5 minutes to put on the clutch pedal and 2 minutes to put on the brake pedal by using this "Stretch the pu$$y" technique.

$100 is too much, though.
