CARBON FIBERDASH
Re: CARBON FIBERDASH
Hey, I just put a dash kit on my 2002 maxima and liek they said above, it does look tacky. Not all pieces match and you can still see the existing trim..I would send it in to get it done with real carbon fiber not some stick on crap.
I feel it takes away the class of the car. Some aprts wont stick on so well and the kit only covers the flat parts, not where it curves, you'll see...
But you are entitled to your own opinion and you should be the one to decide wether it looks good or not.
I took mine off... Threw away 160 dollars..

Hmmm... well, I'll give you a different opinion. I don't think this particular kit looks good, especially when the light reflects off of it. You definitely want something less glossy if you go carbon fiber. However, I think the stock console looks rather ungainly as well, so I think there could potentially be a kit out there that's good enough to improve it. But not this one.

Re: CARBON FIBERDASH
What mostly everybody is trying to say is that the dash kit looks like a sheet of carbon fiber plastic just stuck on there with some double-sided tape. I agree it doesn’t flow with the interior.
IMO Instead if you find someone to custom make a molded carbon fiber trim that covers the entire console will not only look awesome but also it’ll look like it came from the factory that way, just like the picture above. But like I say it’s your car and in the end it’s your decision what counts.

Re: CARBON FIBERDASH
Actually I heard some 996TT guys say that kit in the P-CAR is not acutally made of carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is essentially the carbon fiber fabric sanwiched between two pieces of acrylic plastic and baked. What Porsche does to save money is I think they take the original panel brush on a layer of clear epoxy lay the "CARBON FIBER" cloth over it and brush on more epoxy until it is smooth like plastic. Comes out very cheap and you could never tell if its real carbon fiber or what I described above.

Doesn’t surprise me, Porsche's quality is lacking for a $120K car. But I still think the molded “carbon-fiber” look on the console would look really good on the G35, especially on the graphite interior.

When you do this project as I described it the whole thing looks "molded". One cannot tell by just looking at the piece that it is a look alike.
