Damn. That's nasty. I'm just over 30k and I've changed mine twice. It was dirty, but nothing close to that!

Your cabin filter is located behind the glove box assembly. It takes about 10 to 15 minutes to change. I think this location is not well placed . . . Because the other side is directly behind the battery compartment. I am not quite sure how the air flows, but if you have a funky battery . . . Watch out!

 

I've seen numerous stories showing instances as such. I seem to remember a Ford F150 with a "big mouse" problem but I can't find the story. I did find this one though and be happy this wasn't your case...

Be careful because mice are creatures of habit and may be back to look for a nesting place. It would be best to have them removed if possible.

I recall reading a thread in this forum about a year ago, where squirels nested in the vent box and died. The guy went on to say that there is an opening behind the battery, on the fire wall, where the air is drawn in. He installed some screen over the opening and from what I remember, he had a hard time getting rid of the smell.

yes fresh air is drawn in.. (when u have the fan on) and it goes through the incabinet filter and blower motor. depending on design alot of animals like to go in there. theres also a drain tube (u know where u see water drip out after u've ran the A/C).. mice, rat, snakes, etc.. might go up there..

you probably wont have to worry about this.. just change the filter every few thousand miles.. depending on where ur driving..

 

LMA Off!!....I second that notion!!...Either that or create some kind of freakin' fortress around your garage/car.

 

I saw something like this on Pimp My Ride a while back, but in that case, the chic had a HELLA-NASTY car (obviously) and a couple rats (not mice) in there.

 

better check it out.

 

I've had them living in my ATV air box and in my snowmobile air boxes but nto in my car yet.
