hid kits by all means is NOT recommended. u end up blinding oncoming traffic.and the getting blamed for illlegal lighting.

yes it is illegal when they don't meet DOT standards of having to be under 2.5feet on a wall from 25 feet away. or was it 10 feet away. doesn't really matter. since the light is soo scattered it's illegal

Technically, Kevin is correct.

All HID retrofit kits are illegal. Any OEM halogen headlight must remain a halogen headlights and cannot normally be upgraded to HID. Also, any HID output that deviates from 4200K-4300K is also illegal.

But for those enthusiasts who don't mind stepping beyond the legal restrictions (as most enthusiasts on this forum are), here is some useful information.

Some HID retrofit kits are garbage - impossible to focus, over heat, are underpowered, have short lifetimes, and cause glare. Other HID kits are much more solidly made and come close to correcting many of the aforementioned problems. The Polarion HID retrofit kits fit into the latter description.

The only retrofit worth doing is a proper one. Please don't stick HID bulbs in a halogen reflector housing. It will case glare and look like poo. If you want to retrofit a proper system use an HID projector with your HID bulbs.
