G35 headlight question
I have been reading the threads on people swapping the fog/high beam bulbs to match the factory HIDs. I am looking at swapping to a set of PIAAs. I already know the Plasma GT's are purple, so they don't match. My question is how well do the Extreme Whites(4150K) and Super Extremes(4200K/3950K) match the HIDs? I know a lot of people are going with SilverStars. I just want to know if any of the PIAAs would match better than the SilverStars.

Let me interject this, as I had heard it many times before when I first bought my Coupe & now I can add to this. I bought the PIAA Super Plasma GT's & replaced my OEM High/Fog lights. Within 7 maybe 8 months one bulb has already burned out, & now I have to go through the HELL of getting into the wheel well, & doing arm contortions, etc... For what you pay for PIAA's, the fact they do not even last 1 year sucks. I personally do not believe they are worth the time / money / effort. Though I have not swapped them yet, I also just picked up some SilverStars to put in place of the PIAA's. I have only ever read good things about them over & over & over again.

The Silverstars are nice. Notably brighter light and they are a very close color match. Remember to raise your headlight aim just a little also. Thats helps alot!!

I am quite aware of your problems with PIAA from the other post. As I've put in the other posts, I've had PIAAs Platinums in my Maxima for over 5 years without a problem. I am not going with Plasma GT's because of their color. All I am asking is which of the other PIAAs will match the factory HIDs and if they will match better than Silver Stars? I don't need any other comments if they aren't answering these questions, that's why I put it in a different thread.
Note: This is for anyone who reads this, whenever changing automotive or even standard light bulbs; never touch the glass surface with your bare skin. You have oils in your skin that will get on a bulb if you touch in and create hot spots on the surface. The light from the bulb reflects off the oil on the surface back into the bulb and heats this spot. These hot spots will cause the bulb to prematurely fail. The hotter the bulb burns, the quicker it can fail. If you happen to touch the glass surface, use rubbing alcohol to wipe the oil off. Then don't turn the bulb on until the alcohol has completely evaporated from the surface. I use a towel or gloves when putting them to prevent contact. This is probably the reason why my PIAAs easily lasted over 5 years while others failed.

I've had the same experience with the PIAA's. No problems in almost a year.
My vote would be for the PIAA's. I had the extreme whites in my G and they were much closer to the HID's than a buds silverstars. I think that the silverstars may put out just a tad more intensity but the extreme whites were a 'better' color match.
I haven't tried or seen the super extremes but if I had to do it over, I would go with those. Even though the extreme whites are rated at 4150K, they were still a touch too yellow. I think the stock HID's are rated at 4100 to 4300K.
I just upgraded to 6000K Philips Ultinons in my low beams and have a set of the new PIAA Super Plasma GT-X H4's rated at 5000K. These are supposed to have 30% better output than the older Plasma GT's. I should be getting them on Monday and will probably install them by Tuesday. I'll post some pics if you want.

I'm barrowing a set of Super Plasmas to try tomorrow(they are just the Plasmas, not the GTs.) I'll let everyone know they results. I am not worried about the intensity. The visability from the HIDs is great on low beams. I just want the lights to match. Since regardless of what I go with, they will be brighter since they are a higher temp; the extra brightness is just a nice additional side effect.
