thanks
thanks
I have purchased several kits from here:
http://www.xenondepot.com/
Their service has been excellent and the quality is top notch. Their kits have all Philips bulbs and ballasts. A kit I bought just this month has the new slimline ballasts which are much thinner than those available previously.
Kits are about $400 with shipping and are available as direct change-outs for about any halogen bulb you can imagine. That is, the bulb-base combination places the gas capsule at exactly the same point relative to the reflector that the halogen bulb would so the beam pattern remains unaltered. They REALLY work!
By all means, order the 4300K bulbs.
These are the whitest and brightest. They put out about 3200 lumens which is roughly the same (light output, not color) as a 130w halogen, in other words BRIGHT!
Don't make the mistake of thinking that the higher the "K" number the better. They're not. Even at 6000K (and worse at higher), the light has a significant blue component which makes things harder to see because it is difficult for the human eye to focus on blue light.
I made the mistake of ordering a 6000K once thinking that the light would be closer to daylight (5600K) but these blubs do not put out full spectrum light like the sun and do not approximate daylight as I hoped they would. Stick with 4300K and you won't be disappointed.
