Help with stock HID's
I was wondering if anyone has any HID's installed in their foglights that match the stock HID's perfectly. I'm looking to buy another set and don't want it to look mismatched. Pics would help too. All information on the HID kit that you have installed in foglights would be PERFECT!
Thanks in advance.:D |
As long as you have the same temperature bulbs, they will look the same. The stock kelvin temperature of the low beam bulb is 4300K. In order for your fog HID's to match, you need to get 4300K bulbs. One thing though, your low beam might be slightly bluer than your fog bulbs because HID bulbs turn bluer as they age. The older the bulb, the bluer it will be. If you want a perfect flawless match, youll have to buy 4 new 4300K bulbs, but thats if you have money like that...

Thanks for the reply. Do you know if you can use 8000k bulbs with the stock ballasts?
|
yes. but I recommand against it.

i purchased 8000k D2r bulbs and they work perfectly great with the stock ballasts....im thinking of purchasing an HID conversion kit for the Fog lights...Has anyone done this?
|
why do you recommend against it?
headlights aren't designed for added temp? |
Because the higher the temp...You lose useable visible light in bad weather. I might look nicer and whiter but it's not really good for driving. Search for the thread on HIDs...Someone posted a very detail reason and explaination about the temps. Very good post...

OKAY...maybe you are one of those aliens pretend to be human with superhuman eyes that see beyond the light spectrum and instead of a radar detector you see the wave coming at you. for the rest of us, we CAN'T see beyond the light specturm, and Ive HAD 8000K bulbs before I learned all these, Im tired of people defending it when you just have no grounds what so ever. compare the REACH of a stock one and your superdooper 8000K, then tell me that it is "JUST AS BRIGHT"

The point is its not like you are driving Blind with 8k...im saying if the dude thinks they looks good he should go for them...they are just as good as the stock to me
|
sure he should do whatever as long as he's pleased, but when I said I recommand against it, because I want him to know that he might not like the outcome and that he should educate himself. What good is a choice if you don't really know what you are choosing.
