Re: Fog light question

You might be able to do this if you replace the whole switch assembly (turn signal, lights, yada yada yada) with one from over seas. It snaps out pretty easy. I have never tried this though. I read somewhere that american cars dont allow this because it was illegal in many but not all states. I have pulled out my light switch assembly and looked at the wiring of this and it looks like it has points on the electronic board for this feature. If you open it up youll see 2 black wires, Thats the wires that turn on the fogs when you turn the switch. Good luck.

Re: Fog light question

If you want to do a simple mod yourself, it is as simple as splicing a wire to your factory fog light switch.

Just choose how you want your fog lights to work, and then find a wire that corresponds.

In other words, if you want to be able to turn your fog lights on whenever your parking lamps are on (but not headlamps), then simply splice a wire from your parking lamp ciruit to your fog light switch. This will allow you to operate your fog lights whenever your parking lights are on. If your headlights are on or off, the fogs will still illuminate. Even if your hi-beams are on, the fogs will stay on, because they are getting their power from the parking light circuit.

Once you turn off your parking lights, the fogs will go out automatically, even if you leave the fog light switch on.

I've done this simple mod on several cars in the past.

Re: Fog light question

Yea I've done that mod too! I was scared to do it to the coupe though. My concern was the feed from the parking light going backwards into the ciruit from the splice. Not sure what that would do to the ciruit board. If you have done this already and have had no problems, let me know cause that would be a much easier mod.

Re: Fog light question

This has been discussed before. The multifunction switch for the lights does not control the lights directly. It sends signals to the body module which then determines what action to take. There is no 'fog light' wire coming out of the switch. It is a matrix and the switch positions are read via a series of pulses.
