"Intigrating" the taillights into blinkers

This is VERY popular in the sportbike community...

They remove the blinkers, and wire the stop lights to be turn lights, somewhat like a lot of pickup trucks have. Usualy, a wiring kit from a trailer is used to do so.

Basicaly, it makes that particular side's tail light flash as the blinker, regardless of the status of the lights (low power for "running lights", high power for "brake lights"), they ALWAYS blink full power.

So, how are the two different power levels supplied to our brake lights? Is it one wire, and the voltage is different from the BCM? Or is there two wires, one for low power / running lights, and one for high power / brake lights?

intEgrating. so do you want the circle of leds to blink with your turn signal or all the lights to blink?

I have an 03, so it will be my 20 or so LED array, no circles here.

I think it would be cool to have an ALL led setup in the rear, therefor disabling the halogen blinkers, and intEgrating the blinker signal into the brake lights....

thats a pretty good idea! keep us posted up

edit: If those lights used dual filament bulbs, it's going to make the job a bit tougher. But sky's the limit

Well, we're addressing the LED's, no fillament. It has to be determined if the low/high power for tail/brake lights is done at the BCM, and one wire goes to the lights, or if there are two wires going back to the lights and one goes through the resister. Going to need two wires @ the lights to make this work properly...

There are 2 wires I believe. I looked in the service manual last night and it had 2 wires going to the rear combination lamp. It was in the Lighting section under parking or tail lamp I believe.

Looking closely at the wiring diagram, I dont think it's anything I'll be getting into... The L and R side brake lights aren't supplied separately from the BCM, it's one wire leaving the BCM that eventually splits into two. This will cause "backfeed" problems that will require diodes to resolve, and I'm just not going to get into it that much....

On the 06 sedan, I have 4 wires going to my tail lights. 1 for the blinker, 1 for the parking lights, 1 for the brakes, and 1 is the ground.

And the 03-04 are plug & play upgrades to the 06 tails, so apparently the wiring diagram I'm looking at isn't appropriate... Humm....

I haven't put the multimeter to each lead, but there are 4 wires going to the assembly and one of them was black (ground). One is split for the side parking light. 1 went to the blinker (+the ground). The split and the last wire go to a circuit board for the LEDs.
I plan on pulling it back off tomorrow and I'll post some pictures then. I wanted to just make one of my circles on each side blink, but I've canxd that, because all LEDs look like they are hooked up to the same board. New plan is to put LEDs in the center of the circle that are dedicated for the blinker.

Remember I'm talking about the Sedan, if you are talking about the Coupe then it could very well be different.

I have an extra taillight that you can experiment on.
