Xenon v. Halogen

Hi, just got my "35" last Friday, emerald mist, bose, willow, sport pkge, winter sp pkge & aero. So far I am feeling this car! I have to be cool for now...because of the break in period.

I really deliberated over getting the Xenon v. Halogen headlights. I stuck with the Halogens. The salesman I dealt with did not really push the Xenons. I am curious to hear from owners of both. Is there a real difference? I have not done enuff night driving to really tell how good the Halogens are.
Another question can one add after market halogen bulbs with brighter intensity. For instance i did this on my motorcycle and it works awesome. My bike came stock with 60/55 watt, I added a 100/65 watt bulb. What a difference. I wonder can i do that with the "35" since I'm stuck with the Halogens. I am pretty sure the battery can deal with the added wattage.

Re: Xenon v. Halogen

DK,
Some of the older posts have more info about replacing your halogens. I used the Sylvania Silver Stars 9003 for the Fog/Highs and HKS for the lows. They are much brighter than stock and while you do not have to worry about the battery, you do not want to go overboard and melt your wires and light housing. Cadillacarl has some pics in the rides section. Others have used the PIAA replacements and seem to like them. Which ones are the brightest, we don't know, since there has not been a side by side comparison by anyone here. Hope this helps.

Merlin.

If you do a lot of night driving, the Xenon might be beneficial, wife purchased her G35 Sedan Areo with the Xenon, personally since we don't do much night driving I would of preferred in saving the $$.

Thanks Merlin for the info, I will research the earlier posts and will ask the service dept at my dealer also.

I always research first, thanks again.

I put the PIAA's in my Expedition and they were a big improvement. I find that the stock G35 lights are bright enough for my needs, and the pattern is perfect. If you want more light (not just blue or whatever) the PIAA's are great.

Re: Xenon v. Halogen

How would i replace the light bulbs on my headlight? My headlights are stock and i was wondering if i should replace them with PIAA or something. I would liek them to look blue-ish? Any suggestions?
