Hey all,

I've got a set of Ultinon D2R's and read somewhere that I can convert them to D2S for the projector headlamps I'm buying soon. I haven't been able to find anything using the search function though.

Can anyone confirm if this is possible and let me know how easy/difficult it may be? Also, is there a DIY somewhere?

It involves scraping off the ceramic coating on the D2R bulbs, and rekeying the base so it will fit in the D2S socket. Not sure exactly how it's done, but I have seen a couple of threads on this forum explaining the procedure. However, it's not recommended because you ruin the bulb if you get any of your body oils on it, and the scraping procedure is tedious. I recommend new bulbs.

Sounds like that's the way to go. Guess I'll just sell my Ultinon D2R's as I originally planned.
