Hey guys got a quick question. I have an 03 G35 and was wondering what is the temperature on the HID ballast that come factory on the car. Or what is the available temp style bulbs you can put on the car. Wanted to change out bulbs with different style color like: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/5000K...QQcmdZViewItem
or maybe a 6000K style bulb. Wondering if that will change the color style.

i would go with 6000k bulbs so its a nice color(which is my opinion) and you dont lose much visibilty

stock HID: 4300K I have 6000k philips ultinons and I love the color output. Go with the 6000k for the perfect balance between color and light output. 8000k would give you more blue, but it'll be harder to see at night.

That link is selling d2s bulbs. You have an 03 so make sure you get the d2r bulbs, not the d2s, unless you have 06 projectors in your 03. d2s is for 06+ headlights

edit: check these out https://g35driver.com/forums/archived-sales/160539-fs-phillips-ultinon-6000k-d2r.html good deal

but i'm purchasing the 06 style headlights and using my current ballasts that are on my car now. so i should need the d2s right? and yeah i'm thinkin about going with 6000k seems to be the best.

Oh by the way anybody have any reccomendations on the best place to get the bulbs? price doesn't matter with this really cause i just want the best true authentic you can get, not some knock off on ebay or something.

If price doesn't matter, get your projectors colormodded by ivorygt rather than putting some colored bulbs in your headlights and losing 25+% of your output. That is the definition of rice IMO

^^ to each his own, but that's like saying putting on some 19-20" volks/works that are heavier than the oem's and you lose performance to gain looks. just a premature assumption is what i'm saying, again imo.

if you're worried about visibility and you stated that price is not a factor, then do what redlude suggested and get it modded by ivorygt and i believe ivory himself suggests nothing higher than 5000k bulbs. if you search the forum you'll find he does great work.

as for the 6000k bulbs, yes you will need the d2s bulbs with the 06 projector headlights. go with philips ultinons all the way. great color, reliable company and i haven't had any problems seeing at night with them. check out ebay or search the marketplace to see if any are available. i picked mine up from ebay for 170 brand new, so there are some deals out there if you look hard enough.

heavier wheels doesn't cost you 25% of your performance though, which the ultinons do, and you pay over double the amount of stock bulbs while you are at it. The bulbs are also used to imitate the color from other projector headlights, which get their color from the lense and shield while using stock bulbs. Faking the color while sacrificing a large portion of your performance is IMO the definition of rice.

consists of opening up the headlights, and swapping out the stock fresnel lense for a clear lense from a tsx projector, and then modding the shield inside of the projector for more color

IvoryGT is currently working on my lights. I should have them installed by Sunday.

We are doing:
-06 projectors
-TSX clear lense swap
-colormod

I'll take some pics to show you what redlude97 is talking about.
