LEDs aren't that bright and arent meant for use in the reverse lights. they wont light much up unless you get some high wattage LEDs.

LEDs aren't going to do much for you for reverse lights. As for license plate, you can use a 194/168.

I have them on my license plate lights and my reverse. Needless to say the reverse lights are hard to see during the daytime. but at night they look great. So its up to you. For me its worth it to have them all match.
Oh and as for the size. I think i have like 12leds in the reverse bulbs. You can fit almost any size in as for the leds the housing is huge.

+1

Stick a couple 3W or 5W luxeons in there and they will function as reverse lights... but not with the normal bulbs you can get from vleds, superbrightleds, etc.

I have these in my city lights, clear corners, and license plate lights and I absolutely love them. Very Bright, even light destribution, and more of a true white color vs being a white/blue.

This picture shows them in my old 03 headlights, they look even better in my 06 lights.

I suggest using V-Leds for all your LED lighting. www.v-leds.com

Others use superbrightleds, but I have heard of some problems with some of their lights. I really haven't heard of issues with V-Leds.

I am currently running V-LEDs 4-Led 194 in my license plate. It lights is up good but there is a dead spot in the center of the plate. I just ordered the high power leds so I will see if those are better. I am not really worried about the dead spot as the car behind me lights up my plate anyways.

These lights are from v-leds.com and there is no dead spot on my plate. Unfortunately its daylight right now so I can't post a pic.

has anybody tried doing HID reverse lights???? I looked through the forums and couldn't find anything. I really wanna do it but I know they don't make a HID kit for a 921 socket so I was just curious if anybody has tried retro fitting like a 9006 HID bulb into the reverse lights

This thread is from 2007, lol.

But, I have some high powered LEDs in my reverse lights and they actually illuminate quite well.
