Question Regarding Headlamps

I have a 2003 coupe. Im confused as to what sort of headlights i have. I know my fogs are halogens as i have swapped those out several times myself from nokya 2500k to Luminics and Nokya 6000k fogs They are H4 halogen bulbs. I was looking at some websites and my headlights bulbs are different than the halogen bulbs. They look exactly like the ultinons and other HID bulbs. I have always been told i dont HID on my car bc there is no projector lens and its a reflector. So why is the bulb an HID bulb? Sorry if this gets move to lighting, and sorry for the length.

The bulbs for your headlights are D2R. The bulbs for projector HID are D2S.
They are HID but reflector HID so don't let people tell you other wise!

Ahh thank you guys. The people ive talked with looked at me like i was stupid saying i had HID bulbs, I mean it made sense, no projector no xenon hid, But the bulb is there so obviously HID. Thanks guys. Will i need a new harness to support a higher K, ie. Instead of the stock Temp if i go as high as 4800k or 6000k d2r, will it be safe on the stock ballast?

yes, you can swap out your bulbs for higher kelvin temp'd bulbs. but be warned that you will lose light output (lumens) the higher kelvin you go.

you can run a 6000K bulb with stock ballast/harness. and its stupid for people to tell you that only projector headlights are HID. Most of the earlier HID platforms were on reflector headlights.
