Nissan/Infiniti CONSULT program as a prerequisite for fog lights?

Basically the bumper of my 06 sedan has two grills in the lower half. I want to be able to put in fog lights (like the coupe kenstyle fog lights) behind these grills and not mold them in.

Kenstyle molded fogs:

I asked the dealer today if they can install them if I purchase the fog light kit outside. They checked and said I need to bring the car in to have the CONSULT program see if its possible.

Shouldn't they be able to tell me right away though - I thought the CONSULT program was a diagnostic tool only?

You could just either take the power from the OEM Fogs to power your new ones. If you want them to turn on with your headlights or when you use the OEM fog you can just use a relay. I doubt there's anything that can be done in CONSULT for what your looking at.

kenstyle is a seperate circuit that'll go on via remote or switch.. most use a remote because its obviously easier to wire

Yes I read about that too. That's why I figured it was weird the dealer wanted me to bring the car in. Oh well ill do it sometime this week and see the outcome.

ive always wanted these fog done but my dealer was pretty **** about installing aftermarket accessories. Now they have eased up seeing how much I mod and after the fact they messed up big time replacing warranty items - took them 1-2 months twice - so I went straight to the head of Infiniti in UAE and got them sorted out

Plus i reiterated the fact that I am a potential buyer for the GT-R!

I'm going to be adding a set of fogs to mine with my Impul style bumper from Eric and using the oem switch. You just need to add a relay to give direct (fused) power from the battery to them so it does not put any extra drain on the oem system. This is because I plan to also keep my S2000 projectors on the fog switch too. You can cut and extend the oem fog wires down to run your new fogs and loose the oem ones.

Like Eric said, the other option is a separate circuit that is independent of the oem switch. There is nothing else the dealer can do aside from this.

Just got back from the dealer. The tech hooked up the Nissan CONSULT II machine to my car - the connector is right under my dash. They said there is no option to add fog lights and also no space in the fuse box Since the car is under warranty and the dealer wont install aftermarket fogs, im SOL!

i was honestly expecting them to say they could install an aftermarket fog set but I guess their higher ups are really strict.

No I dont pay them for this kinda work - no payment at all actually cuz ive had two incidents of horrid service from them for warranty parts so they are doing their best to make it up to me.
