I have a stock (as far as lighting goes) 2003 G35 sedan. However my headlights have gone weak and I have finally saved enough cash to get xenons in my car. My question are how do you know if you car has halogens or HIDs, where can i find this information(the owners manual had nothing). When i turn on my car the lights turn on instantly and do not need to worm up(I was told this mean i have halogens). The reason I ask is because I have found a conversion kit that say it is bi-xenon H4/9003 will this work for my car (both high and low beams) or do i have to buy one high beam conversion and another low beam conversion separately.

easiest way is to simple look at the headlight housing. There should be an etching on the clear cover that tells you what type of bulbs are used. If it says d2r, then they are HID. Another easy way to check is to simple turn on the headlight and the foglight at the same time. If you have HID's, then the top lights will look significantly whiter/bluer than the lower halogen bulbs. If you have a 2003, then the HID bulbs are probably nearing the end of their lifetime, and can be replaced with new HID bulbs. Just pick up a set of OEM phillips 85126+ d2r bulbs on ebay or something. Should be less than $100

 

can i get the philpis xenons from xenonpros the 4300k, or can i just get xenon bulbs? I checked and the housing says d2r

are bi-xenon kits just for cars that have the single headlamp bulb that have a shutter or can be used on the G35 that have two separate bulbs>

 

The g35 has a seperate highbeam bulb that is in the lower bowl, so a normal xenon bulb will work fine

 

I have Halogens I know this now, is there a conversion kit out there that would work on my car that can get me xenons (HIDS) i was told that i would need to re-wire the car from the dealer and they said it would cost $4000-5000 dollars to do it so whats out there after market

 

HID's in a halogen headlight is a big no-no IMO. It will cause significant glare issues for other drivers and is quite inconsiderate. Nothing I would consider EVER. Pick up a set of OEM HID headlights instead and rewire them to work correctly.

I would get a set of HID headlight housings with ballasts and a set of D2R bulbs. I would bet that they have the same electrical connections and will plug and play. No wiring required.

Price them new from vendors such as www.everythingg35.com, www.infiniti-partsusa.com, and www.grubbs.com. You may be able to find a good set from a junk yard.

Beware of some of the housings sold on eBay. They are halogen replacements and you will be in the same boat.

The 05 sedan headlights got a minor refreshing on the design. I'm not sure if they are a direct fit on the 03-04 sedans.

 

The 05 sedan headlights will NOT work on 03-04 sedans. All the front body panels are different

 

Thanks for the clarification on the 05 headlights. I thoght they were a little different, but I wasn't sure.

 

I was told form the guys at the infiniti dealer that to do this "properly" and buy oem it would cost me 5000 dollars and i don't have that kind of money nor wish to spend it on headlights. Is there anything else i can do to get brighter lights can i just put in an upgraded halogen bulb? If so do you guys have and recommendation for whatever is the whitest and brightest thing i can do here?

There aren't any halogen bulbs that are brighter than stock. You don't have to have the dealership do the swap for you, pick up a set of used OEM HID headlights like others have suggested, and install those. I'm not sure if the wiring is different or not, but shouldn't be that hard to figure out. They can be had on ebay or wrecking yards occasionally if you keep an eye out, and the conversion could be done for $<1000.
