Just changed interior lights to LEDs

Ok so I just changed out all my interior lights to white LEDs, but im having a problem with my map lights. When I have them switched to the door activation, the leds faintly stay on. Has anybody else ever have this happen? Any possible solutions. When they are turned to off the faint glow goes away. Thanks in advance.

That's pretty normal from what I've seen. The power draw is so light they stay lit a little while after they have been fully powered.

Reason being is I think there is always a charge going through the LED's when the door switch is on. If you turn the switch to the of position, it completly cuts off the circuit and does not glow.

Otherwise, it's normal for that to happen. Mine does the same thing.

Thanks for the replies. So it sounds like I shouldn't be worried about battery drain or anything like that, right?

Do you know of a DIY for getting at all the interior lights? I want to change mine out, but can't figure out how to get the map light covers off.

Thanks

The just pop off. A good pick set helps.

Actually we are pretty lucky with this car. Real easy to change out bulbs, compared to my old car.

For the map lights: Press in the light like you turned it on. Hold it like that and you will get a nice little gap on the inside edge. I just placed my fingernails in the gap and pulled gently. They come right out.

For the door lights: Just slide in a screwdriver carefully and pry down. The trickest part here is replacing the bulb as they only give you about an inch of room.

For the back dome lights: I just gently pulled out the entire assembly with my finger tips. You need a small phillips screwdriver (I got mine from my eyeglass kit). Unscrew the one screw behind the assembly and then take the clear lens off carefully.

It is honestly that easy. Also the LED's do go out, but they take some time. I think they are too energy efficent for their own good. Hope that helps you.

I replaced mine with blue LEDs and they are completely off when they are off - if you know what I mean.

check the owners manual - there is an illustration in there if you can't figure it out.

And i only notice the faint light of my LEDS - when the head lights are on - when they are off, there is no glow.

Thanks for the tips. I tried to pry off the map light covers, but got nervous about the pressure I was applying. I will give it another try now that I know what to do.

One more question about the map lights. Are we removing the clear cover, or the trim piece around it? When I push in the light, I don't seem to get the gap you mention. I dont want to pull on the wrong peice and have it break.

Thanks much.

You just want to pull the clear lens, Its a small gap just big enough for you fingernail or a small pick. The glow goes away after some time, it just very faint. I actually like the glow now. I've used v-leds in the past, but extreme bright leds has a lifetime guarantee, so I go with them now.
