How do you REMOVE OXIDATION from HEADLIGHTS!!!!!

Hey guys,

I have a 03 coupe and my headlights are almost completely yellow and mildewy. I bought some platix stuff and it made it worse. Does anyone know how to restore them???

You should be able to restore the plastic with some polish and elbow grease.

Take your time, and use progressively lighter compounds....Start with a heavy compound to remove the crud, and then continue to polish it out with less abrasive polishes till you reach the point your happy with.

I believe there is a DIY for cleaning the headlights in that section
Good luck

I would start by wetsanding with 2000 grit to remove the oxidation, it will cut faster and smoother. Use a soft sanding block, then follow up with a medium cut compound and polish and then apply a sealant for some UV protection

i would try simple 3M plastic polish before you go the wetsanding route.

I bought this kit (the heavy duty one) and was very pleased with the results. Takes some time and a little skill, but they come out like new. Its basically what everybody has already said, but in one package.

^+1, I bought my car used (2 years old) and the headlights had some oxidation when I got it. Used PlastX on my headlights and they cleaned up real nice.

yellowing is a lot tougher to get off. I'd wet sand or simply find a newer set for a decent price and replace it.
