I have a 2003 sedan and my front dome lights don't come on when I open the front doors. The lights both work when you push them in, the lights at the bottom of the front doors that light the ground turn on when you open the doors, and the rear doors activate the rear headliner lights, but fot some reason the front dome lights just wont turn on when you open the doors. And yes, the swtich is set to "DOOR".

Any thoughts?

 

Mine were exhibiting funky behavior like this as well. But now they just don't come on at all. I can flip the little slide switch and click the lights on an off all day and they never so much as flicker. I found your thread on a search for information on how to change the bulbs. Did you ever figure out what the problem was with yours?

My left dome light stopped working about a week or so ago. Then, two days ago, I pushed it in and, tada, light! I know this offers no help whatsoever, but I thought I'd share. Good luck.

 

Umass, I hate to tell you this, but mine did that too. I sincerely hope that yours never give you any more trouble.

But I'm at least glad to know that this is not an anomaly, which means somebody must have done something somewhere along the way to fix this.

 

I haven't figured it out yet. I was gonna pull the whole panel down and look at the switch. There must be something wrong with the DOOR/OFF switch, because the lights work when you push them.

 

Okay so this is buggin the heck outta me. So I'm driving along and I reach to the rear right to turn the reading light on back there and when I flip the switch one way my front left dome light comes on. What the heck? I try to see if it will work for the front right so I flip the rear left, but nothing happens with the front right. I hope there's no a short somewhere. Anyone ever have this happen? Is there something about the way these lights work that I'm missing?
