Help With Headlights?

Hi guys. I am new to the forum (and owning a G) and needed some help. My passenger headlight went out on my 03 sedan a couple nights ago and I don't know how to reach it to replace it. I took it to a couple shops locally to check it out and they didn't know either. I figure I can get the best advice here.. The car is no longer under warranty and the dealer wants up to $300 to replace it.
Any advice on how to replace the headlight? It would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

is it just the bulb that is out or the whole headlight not working? If it's the bulb... get some new OEM bulbs on ebay. If it's the headlight, search around the marketplace here and ebay as well for a OEM headlight

I believe it is jsut the bulb. The problem is I don't know how to extract it and get a new one in there.

You need to take off the wheel well cover to access the headlight bulbs. Take a wheel off if that'll make it easier for you to do all this.

+1 ^ Check the DIY threads under lighting and there is a DIY for changing bulbs. It's very easy

You can get in there from the top (I have) but it's a huge PITA.

I was able to reach the wire connector from under the hood by removing the bracket that supports a couple hoses and the spring that absorbs the closing hood, but couldn't figure out how to remove the damn thing. I may try removing the front bumper and taking out the whole headlight housing tomorrow (based on the step-by-step Triji posted in the tech area) and investing in some HID's (while I'm going to all the trouble ). I have lost all faith in dealers, not that I ever really had any to begin with. I just want my baby 100% again!!
P.S. Forum-n00b, what is a +1 post

+1 means "Yeah, that" or "What he said". Just take off your wheel well cover. It's only clips that you pop out with a screwdriver and a few bolts... much easier and simpler than taking off the whole bumper and taking out the headlights.

Right on I think I'm going to try that. Do you need to remove the wheel to do this? Also, I found the thread about removing the entire housing but not the bulb. Does the thread about replacing bulbs suggest going from under the wheel well?

yes under the wheel wheel. You do not need to remove the wheel. Just turn it to get easy access

Thank you all for all the help. I ended up jacking up the front passenger side of the car and removing the wheel. Then I removed the 2 screws and 4 or so pins that held the thin wheel well in place. This gave me very easy access to the bulb. I bought a new bulb at AutoZone for $7 and swapped them out. And the dealer wanted $300! Took me about 2 hours working leisurely by myself including the short trip to AutoZone.
Thanks again guys, I much appreciate the money you saved me and all the helpful suggestions. I will definitely be returning to this site!

I have a related headlight issue with my 07 G35X. Three weeks ago, my passenger side headlamp went out so I took it to the dealer. I had to leave it for two days because they had to order an "igniter." The service guy then called me and said it wasn't the bulb or the igniter, but a fuse. According to him, there is a separate fuse for each headlamp (although I assume this fuse is part of the headlight assembly because I can't find one in the fuse block).
(BTW, they charged for me for the replacement of the fuse).

Well, last night it went out again & I'm going to have to take it back in.

My guess there is a short somewhere, but curious if anyone has had this issue.
