They certainly won't work like you are hoping. Comparing a flashlight to a headlight is apples to oranges. Just look at lumen (light) output. Rough estimate is that a 55W H1/H4 bulb puts out ~2000 lumens. HID bulbs get to around 3500 lumens. Now look at LED's... the better LED's out there (luxeon K2's, etc) put out about 200 lumens per LED. So just in that you need at least 10 LED's. Mind you each luxeon K2 is about $9. Each Luxeon K2 is considered a 5W LED. So you are looking at $90 in just LED's. I won't even get into the power supply and heatsinking requirements to run that many high power LED's.

There is no way you could replace your foglights/high beam with a simple LED bulb that fits in the old socket. Vleds, superbrightleds, etc don't even use real high power LED clusters for their drop-in replacements. The biggest and most expensive bulb on Vleds (http://www.v-leds.com/Shop/Control/P...id/0/SFV/32481) that I found in a quick search is $50 and uses 10, 1/2 Watt LED's for a TOTAL of 5W. That particular model doesn't show lumen output, but the largest one I found on the site had about 120 lumen output.

So I say again, there is no way to get a drop-in replacement that can equal the light output of either an H1 or H4 bulb. All these drop in replacements will light up the housing if that is all you are going for, but you will NOT get any useful fog light or high beam function.

MidnightG35X is correct. The lumens from the led is not enough at all. It lights the space but does not project the light out. DO NOT BUY LED'S for your low beam's
