06 Sedan Quad Retro - Start

Starting a thread out for my 06 g35 sedan build. A few shots of the parts in store.

Luckily it has HIDs to begin so I only needed one extra set of ballasts. Plan is to use the TSX with clear lenses after painting the shield for the low beam (upper location) second projector will be a TL with ZKW lens swap. Note the projector lenses are fogged up because I brought them in from our garage.

Bulbs will be 85122+ in both setups using Matsu Gen 3 ballasts

I just realised from another thread that you were questioning 03-06 sedan headlights.

03-04 headlights are different and will not fit in our cars. Hope you got 05-06 headlights. Those ebay guys dont know what they are talking about when marketing stuff.

I have a set of 06 lights spare that I am doing the work on. I know they look different, but was never sure if they would fit in the same space. I have to make some decisions about how I will be painting the housing/bezels as well as what bezel will be used on the top projector, plus a few additional lighting options.

The bottom projector will be using an 07 g35 shroud as seen here:

Got things ready as I am going to start working tomorrow

Comparison of lenses Left is ZKW Right is TL

Bowls removed from the rear housing

Mockup for the heck of it

Now the question is to try and use the stock bowls to mount or fabricate a few mounting plates for the projectors.

I got some plates mocked up tonight and I am using the front bezel as a guide to align the projectors initially, I need to have my shrouds to ensure fitment, but I believe I have everything in place to keep the projectors inside so I can replace the back caps.

I will be using the 07+ G35 bezel on the lower projector and I am debating the top still, I think the gattling gun or maybe a G35 shroud will look best with a plate on the back to close off the rear portion. The turn signal is interesting how it is hooked to the housing, but I will be doing something with the amber lens, just have not determined what yet.

When I was purchasing the metal for the brackets I noticed their threaded rods. I think I am going to hack one of these down for some 5 inch long bolts for adjustment since they are large housings.

I am just a little bummed that my TL projectors are slopes, but since they are my fogs and the TSX is my low beam, I will get over it pretty easily.

Any thoughts on how I should paint the bezel? I love the G35 shroud and thought about leaving just the shrouds chromed, and possibly the 3 rings of the arcs and painting the rest black.

Here are a few pics:

I like the chrome housing best, since it keeps the OEM look. I figure anyone can paint something black, but not everyone can add chrome touches inside a headlight. But if you're going to paint it black, I vote for keeping the rings chrome.

its hard to tell from just the pics, but it appears your lower projector is rotated quite a bit, did you incorporate a rotational adjustment?
