LED install

Okay so I'm ready to install my interior LEDs but I remember reading that some people blew their fuses when trying to replace the interior OEM bulbs with LEDs.
I've tried looking for the particular thread but can't find it and I'm impatient
Do I just need to have the car turned off or do I need to disconnect the battery?
I ask this because when replacing the door and trunk lights they will be on during the install since the door is open.
So what precautions do I need to take?

Thanks in advance guys

ok well i installed LEDs in my dome lights and trunk as well as the clear corners and i didnt disconnect my batteries. For the domes jsut close your door till they go and and u'll be fine, as for the trunk i put my seats down in the rear and climbed in that way so the light would stay off. I havent installed my door LEDs yet but i heard that u need to lay on the ground and push the button on the door sill that makes the lights go off with your foot . It might be awkward position but it works

Cool thanks,
I had a feeling it was something to this nature.
Just realized after installing the 4 led light for the map lights I'm going to need the 9 led.
Not bright enough, Damn
