how do you know if your headlights need to be re-aimed/adjusted?

how do you know if your headlights need to be re-aimed/adjusted?
My cutoff pattern seems fine, so how can I tell if i need to re-aim them or not? I saw redlude's thread on how to do this. But not sure if I even need to, cause it looks pretty normal to me.
