Possible to disconnect part of the tail light?

For the g35 coupe, is it possible to remove the bulb (if there is one) or disconnect a wire that lights up the rectangle on the tails?

Essentially what I'd like to do is change it so that only the ring lights up.

From a pic online:

Very easy. Just open up the seal cover from behind the LED ring, and you'll see two small connectors coming off the circuit board. Depending on if you have an 03-05 or 06-07, I think they are in different locations. One does the ring, one does the 3 lines of LEDs. Just disconnect the one that goes to the lines.

This is on an 06-07. Disconnect the white connector with two black wires on the top left.

Do I need to physically dremel open the tails like in your picture?

Anyway, since you're saying it's possible, I might as well take one tail light out and see what's up.

^ Thanks. That's what I was looking for. Should've known it would have been done already.
