Re: aftermarket kits

i think that pic is for the 7500K kit.. my only concern is the whold color temp labelling.. i keep reading that 4300K gives out the most lumens, but they claim their 6000K gives out the most.. i dunno if they're just labeling the color temps differently than other manufacturers.. their 6000K is pure white.. 7500 is like an aqua marine, which i don't really like.. and the 9000K is pure white with a blue hue, probably a deeper blue than what you see in the above pic.. unfortunately, that pic is of a projector.. i'm not sure what it would look like using a reflector.. the prices are for pairs.. i don't think they sell these things per unit... the prices are pretty good, though, eh?

Re: aftermarket kits

I actually e-mailed them about replacing the stock HID bulbs on the sedan... they told me our bulbs are of the D2S variant, not the D2R, even if our lights are reflective-lense-units...
I'm now comtemplating between the 8000K and 10000K OEM replacement bulbs... what do you guys think?

Re: aftermarket kits

go for the 10000K.. the 8000K will look blue-green i think... the 10000K is a purer white and tinge of blue/purple...

Re: aftermarket kits

First I will like to know what kit did you buy the lowbeam H1 or the highbeam & foglight H4.
I have a G35 with no factory hid, and I'm interesting in a hid kit for the low beam as the factory models, but my question is which is the color temp or kelvin I should buy , cause I found that even with the same kelvin the color change depending the brand so I'm very confuse.
I have a friend that bought a 7000k kit for a Mercedes from www.autotoys.com the headlight it look very white, and the road looks a little white/blue, the H1 price is $339.00
Also I will like to know what modification if so, you did to the plastics covers and wires, cause I installed Xenon bulbs to my car and I think the plastic caps that cover the bulbs and close the back of the headlight its gona be a problem.

Re: aftermarket kits

i bought the lowbeam H1.. my G didn't come with HID's since it wasn't a premium and it was 2003 instead of 2003.5.. the color temp really depends on the brand you're choosing from.. if you're going for phillips, which don't actually make kits btw, the 4500K would look more like the stock HIDs in the G.. for the Bohmen kits at proxenon.com, 6000K would be more like stock. this kit is bright white with not much color except at certain angles and depending on the headlight housing... I bought the 9000K so i'll get a deep blue/bright white.. if you want, you can wait till i install mine and i'll give my reviews and post up pics..

so far, the dialogue with the company has been very helpful. they're very knowledgeable. if you decide to go with them, tell them David sent you. they're actually doing a group buy right now that'll get you the 6000K kit w/ gen. 4 ballast for $380 shipped... pretty good deal. i would've gotten them, but i wanted something a little different from stock.. although the 6000K is a little brighter than stock. they also have 7500K, but that's too blue-green for me..

there should be no mods needed when installing the kit, but i'll let you know after i install mine if there was anything extra that needed to be done.

if u decide to get a kit, get one from a known aftermarket company.. a lot of the stuff u see on ebay and some of the stuff on that site you mentioned are from companies i haven't heard about and they don't make much reference as to who manufactures their bulbs and ballasts.. companies like catz, bohmen, and mcculloch (g-garage) make retrofit kits that are plug and play.. bohmen actually make their own ballasts and bulbs.. they work closely with osram/sylvania so the quality is top-notch.. everything is german made.. they use gen. 4 ballasts.. catz actually makes oem kits for some japanese auto manufacturers.. i think acura/honda is one of them. i think everything is japanese/taiwanese made..
g-garage (formerly mcculloch) actually use to be with bohmen, but split off.. they're kits bear a striking resemblance to bohmen kits, but they're a little behind on the color temps for their bulbs.
the only phillips kits i might trust are those you can find on autolamps-online.com and xenondepot.com. watch out for nameless kits on ebay and the internet..

anyway, hope that helps a little.. good luck.

Re: aftermarket kits

thanks
We have the same model, mine is a 2003 sport package.

The question about the modifications is cause I replace the bulbs and there is a plastic cap that covers the bulbs and the wires pass thru, I think it will need modifications like make a big hole in the center, That's one of the reason why I haven't bought my kit yet. (sorry if you dont understand my explanations but I'm from Puerto Rico and my english is not too good)
Anyway I will wait until you install yours, by the way how much did u pay for it?
thanks we keep in touch

Re: aftermarket kits

plastic cap that covers the bulbs? are you talking about the reflector housing? you shouldn't have to be making any holes anywhere... you just go in, unplug the halogen bulbs, replace them with the HID bulb, attach the ballast/ignitor/etc, and you should be ready to go..

check the site... proxenon.com. I got the H1 9000K kit..
