1. High powered ones create alot of heat and its an enclosed area. Might even melt the connection

2. 360 degree lightning is useless for this application since the light just points down.

i got the first ones you posted and put them in yesterday and they are brighttt as **** and a nice white color (no blue tint or anything).

however the whole design of the license plate bulb placement seems to be flawed in my opinion as half the light shoots BEHIND the license plate and the other half shows OVER the license plate, effectively creating a white underglow that trails behind me while I drive, and almost totally missing the plate. nobody else has this problem?

 

stacks, do you have a picture with the 2watt bulb? According to the luminosity specs, the 2 watt is 5 times brighter than the 1 Watt bulb.

Dave, are you running the 1 watt? If so do you have a picture of it?

 

More like 4.375 times brighter, but who's counting. Here are my 1.5W lights I got from v-leds awhile ago. It may not really show it in pic #2, but they're really bright.

Actually, the license plate bulbs kinda go in a little sideways, they don't point straight down. But your point is correct, 360 might be a waste of lumens.

 

mine almost bypass the plate completely and just hit the ground... i think i might need to adjust the clear "holders" theyre in to point toward the plate more... if thats possible.

 

Do they still carry this one at V-Leds? If so, can I get a link please.

 

They don't carry the 1.5W any more*, but they have a 2W version that's pretty much identical, except brighter. It's currently out of stock, but it's still listed.

* One of my only complaints about v-leds.com is that products seem to change and/or disappear a little too often. They always have great stuff, but if I didn't have a spare 1.5W sitting around, I'd have to buy 2 replacements if one goes out. This is also why I don't even consider superbrightleds.com. They have mostly older style LEDs and their selection never changes, i.e. they never have anything as good as what v-leds.com offers. It's always in stock, but it's always weaker.

i have some that were supposedly white led's when i bought them, but they have this blueish tint on them that i don't really like...

i want something closer to the Lexus IS250,350 stock license plate lights

any suggestions?

 

Go with Halo LEDs. They do not give you blue tint compared to most other super white LEDs.

actually the link that OP posted for the 2 watt is perfectly fine for hours of use.. i too have the 1.5 watt ones which are no longer available but i would highly recommened the .5 watt ones which actually do just fine.. no need to really go brighter they are bright enough.. i have brand new 2watt and .5 watt ones available for sale if u want.

 

haha, I just ordered some 1.5 watt ones from Ebay about 10 mins ago. I got tired of waiting for the 1 watt ones at V-leds. Something inside me didn't feel like paying $20 for license plate bulbs.

These are the ones I got. Worse comes to worse i'll be out $5.
