Side Markers not working

I was going to do the side marker blinker MOD. I didn't even notice my side markers were even lights, I thought they were reflectors. They never come on. Not with the parking lights, headlights, blinkers, hazard. They have a bulb. It is a 2006 5AT coupe. Is this normal? Should I just go ahead with the MOD?

The bulbs should be on when your lights are on. If not either you have burnt out bulbs or a blown fuse.

OK. I checked all the fuses in the 3 fuse boxes. Even the one behind the battery. They are all good. The bulbs are good. I took it in a couple months ago for the headlight recall. I'm not sure if they were working before that. If I go with the MOD. Do you think that might fix my problem.

I finally got around to check voltage. I have 2 burned out bulbs. It probably happened at the dealer when the headlights were replaced. Voltage checks out good, just blown bulbs. Thanks for the help.

How do you check the voltage of the wires and the bulbs?

Turn your DMM to DC volts, if it's not an auto ranging meter then select something like 20 DCV. Turn on your headlights, put one probe into the socket on 1 pin, put the other probe into the socket on the other pin.

Don't cross the probes or you will blow a fuse.

Your meter should read 12VDC, if it doesn't then you do not have power to the socket and need to troubleshoot the issue.
