Good info. I just recently switched to 6000k's from oem myself. Love the way it looks now and it matches my clear sidemarkers w/white leds, white led city lights, and white led interior lol. I'm not a fan of the blue/purple look....

I'm just guessing, but I'd imagine some of that cost is you paying for a brand name and the lifetime warranty, not really that it's a brighter bulb.

Hmm lifetime? It only gives one year warranty here on a popular site where people get their Phillips Ultinon's

http://www.xenonfactory.com/products...lb_philips.htm

My bad, I confused Philips with another company when a different user was posting about lifetime warranties.

The higher the temp the more white (6000k), to blue (8000k), to eventually purple (12000k) you get. Total output goes down as color goes up, lots of ppl stick to 6000k because it's the perfect compromise between output and that hot white color w/o (a) looking too rice and (b) edging towards the illegal side where you start running into fix it ticket issues, esp w. the hotter purples and blues. so the oem 4300k is the "brightest" but not the "whitest." hope that helps
Relax homie, 12000K is not purple its sky blue.

sorry holmes, whoever advertised that as a 12000k lamp definitely wasn't selling a true 12000k temp. Often times the labels to the taiwanese lamps don't correspond exactly with the temp/bulb color. A true 12000k is purple, my homie paid $400 for european made 12000k halos for his m3 and that **** is deep violet! no drama, only info here mang...true 12k= purple, sky blue is closer to 6-8k depending on the brand. Thas why, i understand the Philips is expensive but they bulb temps run true to color, so drop that extra dough, put em in the car...call it a day, nothing to worry ya later

Where do you gentlemen procure Philips Ultinon bulbs?

Does XenonFactory sell legit sets? Is there a cheaper place to go for a legit set?

Thanks.
