I want to convert my wife's 04 coupe OEM reflectors to 06-07 projectors. According to the lamp guide, the projectors use bi-xenon D2S so the existing DRS bulbs will not work in the new projectors?

Are ballasts compatible between the two styles?

D2R will work but just not optimium for projectors. I had to used my 03/04 D2R when i got my projectors because I didn't have D2S bulbs. They weren't as bright but worked just fine. I now have D2S bulbs and they have noticeably better light output.

 

Just get the 06 headlights from Riverside Infiniti, or anywhere else. Take off your current ballasts, put them on the 06's, and put the headlamps back in.
No converting, baking, or dremmeling necessary.

D2R bulbs are for reflectors, D2S bulbs are for projectors. Headlamps from Riverside Infiniti come with all the bulbs needed, or you can change them out with others.

 

yes, thats what I did on my 03. At that time I found a SMOKING deal for a new pair in the box for $250! You are right, was simplest scenario to do the conversion. However, this time arouind we are on a bit of a budget. I got a nice RH unit that needs a D2S bulb. As an update, I just won a LH 06-07 projector unit that has scratches on the lens.

If these don't polish out, are the 03-05 headlamp lenses the same as the later style 06-07's? Was thinking on swapping lenses. Y/N?
