2006 Headlights
Hey guys i have a 2006 g35 coupe and I was looking to change to a 6000k bulb. Are there certain bulbs you would recomend? And will I lose my highbeams? Also I was looking to change my fog lights to a whiter color, something that matches 6000k...I've heard leds look pretty good here as well..any thoughts?
OP,
Search for D2S bulbs for your xenon replacement and H1 bulbs for your foglights. It really depends how much you want to spend. PIAA bulbs, for example, are very nice but in my opinion not worth the premium. Check the vendors here as many people seem happy with their products and appear to match the proper wattages. Mismatched wattages is one of the biggest problems with respect to bulb life. I believe the stock xenon bulbs are at a Kelvin temperature of 4300K.
Additionally, if you live in an area where fog is actually an issue and will need to use your foglights to help visibility, I would strongly suggest against going up the Kelvin scale (to a 6000K bulb as you mentioned). 2500-3000K is optimal for less glare and light reflection in foggy situations. However if you aren't, again check the vendors here. I'm looking to pick up some 5000K H1 bulbs from a vendor on here, I think it was ~$15 shipped w/in the US. Here in Calgary, it gets foggy maybe once a year. So I have to decide if I want yellow or white DRL/fogs
I'd love to be able to find a quality, very close to 5000K xenon bulb as a replacement. So far, haven't had much luck.
Cheers.
