I just purchased a set of 06 projectors and am planning on using my old ballasts from my 03 Xenon headlights...I plan on upgrading to HID bulbs in my projects, so will my Xenon ballasts work with HID bulbs or do I need to purchase HID ballasts?

What is the difference between the Xenon ballasts and the HID ballasts? Cause I have been told that the Xenon ballasts will work with HID bulbs I just want to make sure...

Aren't projectors HID? If you're just directly swapping your 03 headlights with 06 projectors, your ballasts will work fine.. not sure what you mean by HID bulbs though

 

The ballasts are the same on the 04 lights and 06 projector lights .Bulb is different .The bulb for the 06 lights is d2r and the 04 lights are d2s .They look identical just have the notches on opposite sides . I have used d2s bulbs by cutting a notch in it but your better off getting d2r as they are made for projectors .

 

As long as your projectors come with all of the necessary bulbs and plugs you should be fine. The ballast only replaces the power, not any of the bulb plugs/fittings

the above post made a whoops typo, he meant to say d2r are for reflector assemblies and d2s are for projector.
