Trunk light/3rd brake light/trunk release help
Trunk light/3rd brake light/trunk release help
Im not to sure if this is the correct section but i need some help
My lid is not opening with the fob or release near steering wheel and my light/3rd brake light is not working. I noticed that the trunk lid cable was snapped so i ended splicing them back together. The other cables on the wiring harness are connected since they were replace not to long ago at the dealership. ( i guess it was to hard for them to redo the cable that they didnt touch).
However I think i blew a fuse for the lights. I know there is a fuse for the trunk lights if im not mistaken in the box on the left of the driver. Does this fuse only apply to the trunk light or is that fuse for the brake light and trunk open as-well??
Or are there individual fuses for all these components?
Thanks very much for your help.

Sounds like it could be a few small problems. There could be a possibility that the wire conductivity is just friend. If your 3rd brake light isn't working that means your tail lamps shouldn't be working either so that may be a fuse.
Does your FOB unlock the doors now?

My 3rd light doesn't work but my tails do. And the fob does not open the trunk but opens and locks the doors.

^Sounds like you might need to get your BCM's checked. Also did you accidentally manually lock your door (without the key) The other question I had to ask you is is the red security light solid when you turn the car on?
Is there a way to reset the bcm. Pulling the battery? For a reset? And now that u mention it I have maybe a month ago noticed that the alarm light was red when I started the car. Then when I started it later that day it was off. I also had issues of the alarm sounding off randomly. This hasn't happpened in a month or so.

Okay that may be your problem right there. Go to an AutoZone and see if they pull an immobilizer code. If so you have to clear it out of the ECU. I had this problem yesterday with my GF's 350Z...I went to the car wash and rolled the windows down and left the car running. I turned the car off (reached in the window and took the keys out). I got back in and drove after cleaning the car up. The interior lights began to come on and fade off and the doors would not lock (when pushing the switch) After pulling over and turning the car off and back on the security system reset itself and all was fine. This has also happened in my G.

So my buddy had a code reader which I'm gonna use this weekend. As for the trunk problem I think I figured it out. It seems like the battery is weak in my fob because it works off and on with the fob I'm using. But when I tried the spare fob there are no problems opening it. However the trunk light does not work I tried new bulbs and the brake light works when I initially start the car in the morning but won't work soon after.
so i checked the fuse and the fuse that is running the trunk lamp and the dtrl is totally fine.
but the light in the trunk is still not working.
now i have a code reader but the reader is indicating that its not receiving any power from the DLC.
HI-TECH do u know where the fuse for the DLC is located is it within the main fuse box behind the battery???

To get to that fuse panel you have to remove the battery completely. There is a black box located right against the firewall.. Also you may want to check the connection port for sometimes they become a little loose.
Oh kk so its in the main one. Thanks ill check the fuse and see what is happening.
thanks
