stage 4 .done. blue AC/compass/temp display

It looks great, but blue is actually harder to clearly see at night. It also affects your night vision, whereas red or orange helps you retain your night vision!
If you turn your dash lights down, I'll bet you lose a lot of detail.
I remember back in the 70s, BMW was one of the only cars with orange lighting. I modded one of my other cars and changed the lights from green to orange. It made a world of difference, and all the shops I went to wanted to know how it was done, and thought it was really 'cool'!
Times have changed!
But kudos to your effort, and as I said, looks great!

cuz orange looks cheaper =) blue is the color of technology and it alot more sophisticated... blue or red is the way to go even white better (new hondas dashs are pretty nice looking) ... infiniti shoulda thought a little more before throwing together a good dash with crappy colors... the G35 is perfect except the color of the lights... hehe but its okay since its a G... this is a mod i would do if i was comfortable taking apart my dash...
i think plenty of people would pay alot of $$ for this mod

Very nice job - you put a ton of time into it, and it shows. I don't love the orange, but there is a cost/benefit analysis to do, and I'm coming up on the side of leaving the lighting stock. On my Maxima, I could change the dash color in less than an hour, but putting that much time into the blue dash lighting, I don't know if I can swing it! That's why I'm even more impressed with your work...

P.S. I'd pay for this mod, too! Using blue LEDs would be a nice long-lasting change to the color (no blown bulbs or fade out), and I'd be happy to pay a few hundred bucks, but that would be ridiculously low pay for that amount of time! You'd probably have to charge over a thousand to make it worth it, right?

wow this was brought back from the dead...
anyways
gya- i could help you out.. but i don't think i would do most of the work since i'm afraid i might break it. haha
as for the A/C display, I took it out and dremeled out the center part of the plastic screen.. Then i overlayed 3 layers of blue film to match the gauges..
As for adding film to the gauges instead of LED's, it won't work. I took my dash apart AGAIN and tried it with the film with the regular bulbs. the color was horrible.. It was nothing like the deep blue you have with LEDs and it matched nothing.. You have to have a pure bright white light, like the a/c -temp/ compass display in order to gain that blue. (regular bulbs give out a yellowish color)
the vw's light is quite dim.. i have a hard time seeing that also.
