I was doing some reading up on this, apparently there a switch above the transmission that tells the car it's in reverse. If that switch is faulty, both lights don't work. I don't have any power to the side that is not working and all the fuses check out ok. Now every time I put a bulb in, turn the car on and press the brake, I blow the 10amp rear lamp fuse. My VDC, SLIP & ABS lights come on and I can't switch out of park??!... When I disconnect the socket everything works out ok, so there must be a short going to that reverse lamp... I read there is a common problem with six wires that travel through the grommet on the right side of the trunk, the rub together causes a short over time when opening and closing the trunk, I'm going to check that out next I think... Hope what I've found out helps a bit...

same problem

my trunk light went out first, the bulb is fine.

The the reverse lights went out. Now the SLIP, VDC, SLIP lights are on the whole time.

I can still start and drive the car.

waiting for the weather to warm up a little before I start checking the car..

Anyone have any more ideas.

I thinking about what "Project 04" has said !!!! this makes sense.

lights fixed,

Finally figured it out and fixed it. Had to cut apart the rubber grommet between the cars body and the trunk lid. Two pairs of wires were completely cut, and a third one was just about to go, too..

Hmm I may have to find someone to take a look at this for me as I'm not very wire savy. One of my reverse lights is also out!

I had this problem. The wire harness on the car was poorly designed. Check the wires wear they go into the trunk (the rubber gasket on the right)

Guarantee they are frayed.
