Nah a guy off Maxima.org that does great work. I could get it done by someone else more local but would rather not risk it, I know this guy does good work. If I was going to gamble with quality of work I'd do it myself that way I know it's getting done properly.

Plus this guy will have to do a good job it would kill business if he messed up a OG's forum members lights.

He's also a great dude, young cat but a good head on his shoulders and not too cocky. He also has some taste and is'nt going to do anything tacky or racy.

its retarded expensive to buy oem headlights unless your a baller like sdgenius lol, i've seen those ebay headlights in person and they are perfectly fine to do a retro fit with..nothings gonna melt. You can pick some up and simply add more sealant and they'll be fine. The new sedan projector headlights on ebay for 400 are the same 150 dollar headlights modified. I wish there was a way to just buy new oem lenses

Yeah I can't believe they don't make lenses, they would sell. This goes for almost ALL cars too. A high quality lens could easily sell for $100 a side or more, and it would sell no problem. I'd buy it

Thanks for the help man, As long as the fitment is ok and plastic is quality enough, they should work. The lenses part kind of sucks because I know the Ebay ones aren't going to be as good. Then again though, nothing is as good as new, like mentioned, even a billion polishes and clear coat will only make old lenses look good when lights are off. Lights on, and the scratches always show up again regardless of how fine of a grit you sand them with.

I've always found polishing to be the best route rather than any type of sanding

Hello =)

Yeah we get members who do retro fits with us new 06 coupe lights for around $500 and new 03-04 sedan lights for around $300 and 05-06 sedan lights for around $900.. These are OEM brand new in-box. Deals obviously for members who get retrofits from us only.

We've had really really bad experience in the past with aftermarket lights. Here is why
1. Many aftermarket lights are SUPER cheap.. cheap as in the plastic is VERY thin.. When mounting the projector the thin reflector will almost guarantee something going wrong down the line =(

2. Some housings are not made for HIDs.. Projectors get as hot as 300-400degrees between the bulb and the lens.. this kind of heat damages and warps some housings

3. Pain in the *** to open

4. Pain int he *** to seal

Aside from that we have retro fitted

$250 Black Housing Aftermarket HeadLamp for 03-04 G35 Sedan - Part No. 02-AZ-IG03-B-4D SHIPPED!

They're made by Anzo and they're actually not bad for retro fitting only problem is that when you reseal it it'll look ugly =(

If you're planning on using those Lens Covers on your OEM body. YES it will work but it is NOT a perfect seal you'll have a slight gap and it'll look ugly BUT it will work and seal perfectly.

Eric, you are by far my favorite vendor on any forum. In fact, I'd go as far to say that you're one of the best salemen/businessmen I've dealt with.

Anyone needs anything talk to this guy, man he's doing good things.

I am pumped to hear about this and you have PM sir.

^ yeah just remember when you reseal it'll look a little ugly..

You guys can try this if you're really bored.. use a heat gun and a pick to take off ALL the extra Glue on the depo light.. When you do this on a OEM light you should be able to CLICK the housing together.. this should make the resealed depo light cosmetically better.

Here's a little RX-8 Teaser...

Stock RX-8 Light: http://www.smcars.net/forums/attachm...headlights.jpg

Our modded one:

We're also getting about a dozen more custom and replica shrouds in =) As well as a newer more compact and better output projector assembly.

Finally we're working on something really really cool and it involves some really amazing LED technology..

With these updates said thats why my threads are really outta date. We have so much new stuff coming in I'm working on the website right now rather then the threads.. Just stay tuned everything will be sickk..

Why in gods name are 05-06 sedan headlights so expensive? I did a projector retrofit on my 05/06 lights which came out well but now I'd like to buy new lights and do another retrofit. It's difficult to justify $900 lights though.

$900 is cheap, try getting them in Canada.

It's because they're HID's, plain and simple, OEM HID housings are stupid expensive, there isn't much justification in it, but that's it. For some reason, the 05/06 are more expensive than the 03/04 (HID Equipped), no idea why.

It'll cost that much if not more even if you DIY. $900's a steal.
Think about all that goes into it. New headlamps, new lenses (x4 (or 6 if turn signals)), D2S bulbs x4, professional opening, mounting projector/shroud/lens, testing, tweaking, resealing, custom painting and led work.
Dunno if aftermarket 55w ballasts come with it, but check out HIDplanet.com and you will see the same price if not higher just to buy the parts yourself.

I see what you're getting at here, but $900 is for STOCK headlights. Parts/labor is on top of that.

I understood $900 for the stock headlights without modifications, then any retrofit costs would be ovewr and above that.

This is the primary reason I started this thread, to see fi the ebay housigns are good enough, becasue the cost is throught he ceiling to do it with stock housings.
