I have searched many places, but could not find any answers.

I want to wire in footwell lighting. I have the LEDs, but I want them to turn on when the headlamps do. Not by a rocker switch or have them on all the time (cigarette lighter). I am thinking of adding a relay in the engine compartment. It will read when the headlights come on and send power on a wire that I will feed through the firewall.

Is there an easier way? Is there a power wire inside the car that can be tapped?

 

check the factory service manual. you have a rather complex install.

 

Thanks for your input. I read the service manual. I found the illumination system wires. Im going to put the relay in the gear **** shifter area. I'll tap the light that illuminates the "P,R,N,D". Then get the 12v from the accessory plug wires. Then run my leads to the LEDs under the head unit.
