TSX-R lens swap questions

I'm attempting my first lens swap and I have a few questions I'm hoping some experts can chime in on.

The TSX-R lens is a bit smaller in diameter than the oem lens and it moves around in the projector after I put the metal lens fastener ring back on. I think the edge of it may be a bit thinner as well. Any advice on how to steady the lens so it doesn't move around?

Is there a special tool for clamping down the metal lens fastener? I'm having a hard time bending the ring edge into the grooves on the projector so it holds firmly.
