CCFL Lighting
CCFL Lighting
Anyone here familiar with CCFL lighting? I am trying to locate a reputable source online for two 12" white strips (Thinking of using them in my clearance strip instead of LED). How hard is the wiring on these things? Thanks
CCFL are extremely bright, especially in white. I can see you easily get into trouble with those while driving. I like this site since they have pictures of their products and a description SVC but you can find a lot of places online. They can come with an inverter that plugs into each light but since these are for computer use, I don't know if they will stand up to all the bumps on the road.
ccfl??? OOHHH!!! You mean cold cathodes!!!! Yeah, I was toying with that idea too. They're set up for 12v, which is perfect. You can tap that sucker right in. I'm pretty sure it can with stand vibrations since they're also used as underbody lighting.
http://www.lcdpart.com/doc/ccfl.html <- sells all kinds of ccfl's for laptops and monitors. they have one that is 305mm long. just over 12".
not sure if u've seen this:

might be an interesting alternative.

PeteNJ, i've been thinking about this for a long time, but it would seem to me that the CCFL tube would need to be "bent" to match the curveature of the headlamp housing?

It appears that it was initially designed to house some sort of lighting throught the whole strip. There is an actual acylic lens that will be perfect to distribute LED light!
I'm starting my project as soon as my car is back from the shop
